Soldam Windy XR-1 Black Knight Here At Last
Well it took a while but the Soldam XR-1 is nearly here. Currently in transit and due to arrive Monday or Tuesday.
My friend from VR Forums (iceflight) did me a special favor and had a friend of his bring the case to the states from Singapore saving me about $250 in shipping. the lowest rate I could find was $340 from DHL. Makes me wonder how in the world people do trade internationally...obviously by cargo container...and in huge volume. I am really looking forward to getting this case. I have been looking for one for months and finally found it and then waited a good while for this special favor. I really hope this case is nearly as nice as I think it is. It's about the same money as one of my full custom Liquid Cooled cases. And I really lilke my cases  So the XR-1 will have to be really really special.It's a once in a lifetime case purchase for me. I can't afford it...but somehow fooled myself into the purchase anyway. Soldam is going out of business. Their cases are all pretty much limited editions and only sold inside Japan. Even getting one is like the Holy Grail Quest. A comparison that might make sense is the Skyline....to a tuner owning a real Skyline from Japan is pretty much the ultimate--that's how I feel about the XR-1. This is probabaly the only case I WILL NOT modify. Even if it means running 7/16 ID tubing though the PCI slots to LC it... I am really hoping there is not a scratch or ding on it...it was such an ordeal finding/purchasing/arranging shipping that I just want it to be perfect in every regard  More soon!  Words cannot describe my feelings for that case... I agree with you PLEASE don't mod a case that amazing... even if I usually love modding...

My case is indeed the model above but it has several accessories I also finagled out of iceflight: special feet that decouple the case--hard to explain...bay leaves (special covers to mask DVD drives) and a special shroud/cable run for the back to silence the PSU output.
I will NOT be modifying this case. I only want the very best components in this case so I will likely keep the initial install simple as no doubt the minute I get it all hooked up X38 will hit the shelves...
