I just bought the CM690 a week ago. When i opened it I saw that the fan on the side had a red wire sticking it. Is that normal

what do you mean the red wire is sticking in it? all 3 of those wires should be running from fan to plug, one is power, one is ground, one is rpm sensor

I meant sticking out. As you see the black and yellow goes into the fan the red doesnt

no, that aint right, lol. that looks like one of the ends has come disconnected from the fan, u need to solder it back on, or get a new fan

thats your power for the fan... it must have broken from its joint inside the fan, time to call coolermaster and see if they will replace it

Its brand new case so should I return it and get a new one or just a new fan

honestly the fan sux, i would toss it in the trash an replace it because it needed done anyhow

what would you suggest. Im doing q6600 dfi blood iron xfx 8800gt 4gb ram 2x2gb gskills 2 76gb raptors raid 0 and a 200gb samsung hd sata. How many fans should I have and where should i put them. Please give me a link. I dont need it to be super chilled.

no, its not got my cm690 a couple of weeks ago and I don't have that problem. Anyways the stock cooling are only so good, and if you were going to order more fans order an extra for that one, since there going to he better like, scythe, anted, noctua, ECT
