I was going to purchase a Silverstone case--but I'm low on cash. I was looking at the LIAN LI PC-V600B, it looks really beautiful, but extremely wide.

I would also recommend the Cosmos. Another alternate choice is the Antec P182. Both great cases.

Is the front panel of the Cosmos detachable? Does it look clean without the front panel? (Is the panel plastic or metal?)

Are you talking about the door or the actual panel? The door is aluminum, except the black piece, which is plastic, and I would imagine it would be removable. All of the drive bay covers are metal with holes for ventilation. I don't believe there is any plastic on the front panel (besides the door) of the Cosmos.
