Default Case "expansion" question

I am in the process of putting together a new build. I realized that my CPU heatsink is a little (about 1/4") too tall to fit in the case. I was thinking of putting on a "window" (not necessarily transparent, not necessarily acrylic) that was kind of elevated to allow for clearance by making a bubble.

I do not desire to buy another case or heatsink.

Anyone ever have this problem? Any thoughts on other ways I can fix this?

Well I suppose you could cut out the panel where your heat sink would be, then you would prolly have to find a welder and some old case that you wouldn't mind scrapping.

Go like this |-| sorta except it would be level. Thats all I can think of...

I have that issues with my Armor and TRUE, so I just roll with out a side panel.

I was thinking of that, but this computer will be in a basement, so I'm worried about dust (specifically sawdust).

I was thinking something like that, not sure what materials to use, though...

You have the wright idea cut the side panel to specs and look for a raised grill or c channel and mount on outside of channel with super glue.

Perhaps attach a window that covers most of your side panel that sticks out the side a bit more than 1/4" and maybe UV paint it if your insane enough. I have the design of this in my head right now lol. If not UV then drill fan holes onto the elevated window?
