Hi just recently got both and was wondering how to situate my fans. As of right now the case fans for the cm690 are the default ones with 1 intake at front 1 exhaust at the back and 1 intake at the side. I was wondering wheather to put the fan on the xigmatek as exhaust or intake. I have 1 scythe s flex sff21g 1900rpm 75cfm fan was planning to use that for top exhaust. Right now i have the xigmatek facing upwards and fan as intake but that wouldnt go well with the top exhaust as it situated right above it i think. Any suggestions guys thanks for the help.

I'd put the your scythe in the front blowing in, The fan that was in the front to the top blowing out, and the one in the back blowing out, and the xig's fan blowing towards the rear.

Ok well you need to replace the crappy stock fans in that case ASAP. I personally recommend getting some Antec 120mm fans, they are quite awesome, push alot of air, inexpensive, and have built on fan speed controllers.
As for how they should be situated... The front case fan should be pulling air in. The 2 side fans should also be pulling air in. The furthest back fan should be blowing air out. And if you can install a fan in the top of the case (there are 2 spots to install fans here) that fan should also be blowing air out of the case. This is quite a lot of air flow, so expect a good deal of dust to build up in the case. You will need to run basic cleaning maintenance at least once a month to ensure optimal and un-disrupted air flow continues.

my suggestion and current orientation is bottom, front, and side intake. rear and top exhaust. heatsink oriented vertically so fan is pushing air thru heatsink and out the rear.
fan suggestion: yate loon medium - high speed. cheap. pretty quiet. jab-tech.com

My suggestion is to buy Yate Loon 140mm medium speed fans for your top exhaust. 120mm Yate Loon medium speed fans for your side panel & bottom fan(the fan inside the case) as intake fans. Then use your Scythe as the front intake as already suggested by xXkeyboardkowboyXx. Buy your Yate Loons from Petrastechshop.com.
http://www.petrastechshop.com/140x25mmfans.html http://www.petrastechshop.com/120x25mmfans.html I use 120mm Antec Tricool fans as exhaust fans for my CM 690 & CM 590 cases. I've never used any of the CM stock fans because they don't move enough air through the case. Just my
