Borrowing ATHF's Doctor Weird's words; "It works! I am one can short of a six-pack!!"
![]() First image is when it got home, without touching anything. Second image is the back end; mind the hand holding it up. Third image is the hard drive cage. Fourth image is of the optical bays; I promptly and accidentally stripped some of the finish installing the mounting adapter to which I had attached my card reader. Fifth image is what everyone probably wants, which is my parts installed; hooray for wrists that didn't ache like hell today and allowed me to stretch the 24-pin to its limits so I could hide it! Oh, and don't ask why he sleeved the eSATA connector..... I have no idea and he didn't mention it. But oh well. For some reason, the front fan's power connector is substantially shorter, so I had to string it on Molex with the top fans. I notice a slight bit more noise with the 3 huge fans at full speed but it's still extremely quiet.I've already thought of what more I can do with the SATA cables so hold your suggestions about them because I've most likely thought of them already; I just wanted the system running. I have also confirmed that it is a flat black powder coat with an enamel layer; the owner said that because of the quality and metallurgy of the aluminum, he probably shouldn't have done it because the coat was meant for steel, but I was willing to pay and was adamant about the request, so it was done. He also threw in the package of cable sleeving kit that they didn't use; it's Thermaltake stuff if you want to know. Kickass! All that aside, enjoy!

That's an excellent system; the water loop looks great, as well. I'll get the list up now in the first post. Don't forget to put your system specs in your sig via the UCP; just click Add System and have at it!

Exactly, in hindsight it wasn't the best kind of tape to use, while peeling it off you would get a little of that sticky residue. That came right off with some goo-gone and didn't damage the paint at all, but I'm pretty sure there is like painters or detailers tape that is made to come right off any surface and not leave anything behind (check out home depot/lowes or like a paint store). Based on how easy it is to mark up the 840's finish, I would definitely recommend using some sort of tape while working on it.

I would like to point out a realization I had, one that shows why Cooler Master used standard screws for the mobo tray; the side panels WILL NOT fit properly with anything bigger than regular screws. This is due to the "handles" at the back of the case on the side panels being right on top of the mobo tray screws; thumbscrews would prevent the panels' handles from fitting to the back, and thus not allowing the side panels to be thumb-screwed down. This is somewhat of an oversight but I'd rather have a secure tray mount, so it's not a big deal.
Edit; for clarification, a quick pic.
