Damnit how did I miss this thread. I have one as well! I bought it about 2 months ago at the egg for $49.95 shipped tax free. For that price this case is flipping sweet! I love how much room there is for cable management along with the ease of accessing everything. I really don't think there is a case out there that can compete with it for form and function at it's price point and much higher. Soo.... Add me!

I also vote to keep the 590 and 690 separate because there is enough difference in the cases to support it and the 690's popularity far eclipses that of the 590's making it harder for people to find info about the 590s. Just my two cents.

Does anyone want to sell me any of their front panel covers? I need two for the mod that I'm thinking about doing.

Done!

Oh, here is a pic of the front of my case with the fan controller and dvd drive door done in mesh to match the rest of the front. Doing my card reader next....
This pic was taken before I cleaned up the dvd door. It looks much better now. I will post completed pics soon.

Tore it apart...
I also removed the clear plastic cover on the very front of the controller. (not shown here...) sorry

I took the mesh I removed from the case and fit it over the front plate of the fan controller

Used some of my wife's crafting paint to mark the holes for the controller knobs and the screw holes to mount the mesh to the front plate of the controller

Looked like this after marking

Here are those annoying led lights that shine though the knobs as you turn up the fans.

Clipped them off right at the pcb. Thought about removing them with the soldering gun, but I know I will never put them back on and the leads on the leds are really long, so I can use them for something else with no problems

Got the holes cut and everything went back together very nicely. I used a small drill bit to make the holes (hard to drill in the mesh, I ended up using a friends drill press and clamps), I then made the knob holes bigger using my dremmel and a small stone bit gently rotating the bit in the hole to widen it. You have some room for error on the knob holes due to the fact the knobs are much bigger than the hole needs to be for the shaft of the pots. I ditched the little allen key screws that held the clear plastic cover on the controller and used some nice phillips screws instead.

I blacked out the white on the front of the controller (says sunbeam and around the knobs). I used some craft paint my wife had (same as I marked the mesh with, except black). It is behind the mesh, so you don't really see it, but I didn't like the white showing through the mesh at cettain angles.
Hope this helps...

The DVD drive door was much more difficult. The fan controller went amazingly quickly. No major problems...

Oh dude,i did the same exact thing to my fan controller set-up. I took the fan controllers from my tuniq fan and silver stone fan and just drilled holes to the front mesh. I really like them in the front now because the old controller set-up was in the back of my case and the other one was on a 3.5 slot. So it got pretty annoying and i had to do something with them. Im gonna be picking up a used Sunbeam 4 channel controller and do the exact same thing with the mesh and just drill holes. Il post pics when i get it.
