Default Advice on Silverstone Raven RV01B issues

Hi guys,

I want to upgrade my case soon from my antec 900 as I'm bored of the looks, don't like the cable management and hate the way the window shows all the wires from the PSU and everything.

So, I was searching around and came across the Sivlerstone Raven case, now you either love the looks or hate it, I for one love the looks and think it's fantastic, I like new and innotive ideas and this has that with the 90* rotation of the motherboard along with some decent cable management holes (better than the antec 900 anyways) so I decided this is the case I am serious about buying, from what I have read aswell this case would be ok for upgrading to a water cooled system aswell, as it has a specifically made backplate to hold a rad.

I know people are skeptical about the plastic feel of the case but I've seen reviews saying it's a nice heavy plastic and it doesn't bother me too much, I also particulaly like the smaller window in the case aswell,.

Anyways, to the issue, I am looking for people who already own the case and can give me some information about a VGA to DVI connector going into my ATI 4850 graphics card at the top of the case and if it will still fit under the piece that slides over the ports on the top of the case? I'd really apreciate some information on this. It'll be a real kick in the balls if it doesn't because my acer 22" monitor only has a VGA support, so unless there is someway I can buy a cable that has VGA at one end and DVI at the other I can really see a way around this?

Well thanks and I apreciate any help I can get on this, and for anyone who wants to watch a nice review on the case go here:

He(or she) has the adapter but is wondering if it will fit under the thing that covers the cables on the case.

I can't answer this for you. You could buy this and not need to worry about the adapter.

Also, although I love the look and concept of this case, I've heard bad things about it. Some people seemed to be dissatisfied with it. I guess just wait for other people to post.

Also, to OP I'd recommend the CM ATCS 840. That case is fricken amazing and is priced similarly to the raven. I used to like doors on my comps but now they're more of a hasslehoff.

Good luck!

sorry i cant help you ether but for one i really like this case. especially the way the front panel slides up then pops in place. antec 900 was craze. i never cared for the looks and everyone had it. i like the 1200 tho.
if i get a new case its between the 1200 and the cm haf.

Hate to burst your bubble, but you won't be able to fit the adapter underneath the cover...plugging in the monitor without an adapter is rather tight as it is.

As for build quality, it's built like a tank...even if it uses plastic.

that is true, you can't fit a dvi to vga adapter, because of the cover It will have to be open all the time to accept the adapter

Like said above, you will not be able to use the adapter. But (and I have not checked the links above) you can get a cable that is dvi on one end and vga on the other and that will work. I think you can also get a 90* plug adapter that will also work.

I have always liked this case, I just couldn't justify the cash that I would have to drop on it.

Some people are put off by the plastic but really, it's built insanely tough. The cable management holes on the left side of the mobo WILL be blocked but there are several options around this so no worries. Like others have said, a VGA-DVI adapter will not fit but honestly, I don't even put that cover on. It makes it lots easier to unplug stuff and what not so I just leave mine off. The door does have a tendency to not come up all the way but can be fixed with a little silicone lubricant.
