You just pull out the side, that's it. No modding, all you need is your hand And to put it back in, just align the hinges and slip it back in.

Edit:

Yes you can buy them from Newegg; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811999186

you can buy one from CM website or do what I did and make your own, unscrew side fan and pull out the large fan and metal mesh, then buy some Plexiglas or acrylic, cut to size, and use same screws and screwholes,

My local machine shop charges me $2 a cut, to cut a square out of the side costs $8. This mod can be done for less than $15.

I'd keep the stock side panel, you don't get too look in but it has some nice sound padding on that panels, keeps it nice and quiet.

Why wouldnt you cut it your self, the cutting tool is about $2.00 and is really easy to use

You don't really even need a cutting tool. Just get a rectangular piece of acrylic the right size, and tape it with 4010 to the window that is already there.

I didn't really notice a difference. The only downside is if you get it from Newegg, unless you get lucky, you may have to send it back for a new one. My first one was damaged in shipping, cause the box is a joke.
I bought an S model one for my 1000, cause I like the black on silver look.
