Default PSU Mount, up or down?

I'm wondering if I should mount my TX650W with the fan facing up in my Xigmatek Midgard (pretty much a CM690) as I have it facing down at the moment and my PSU gets quite warm under load, and if i have it with the fan facing up, will this disrupt airflow?

Unless you have your computer set on a rug/carpet on the floor (dust is your worst enemy)...I recommend keeping it faced down sucking up the coldest ambient air. That's why some cases already have a vent below for the PSU to suck air from. The only time that it may be better to face the PSU fan up is if you have some inner fans or side fans that the PSU may keep cool from but even then I still see some sort of airflow disruption.

To be honest...I don't think you should ever face the PSU fan up (unless you have no choice when a case doesn't come with a bottom vent) because of the how airflow suppose to go IMO. Intake in front goes through your whole case...exhausting either to the back exhaust or top exhaust. Side fan intake either goes to the GPUs or CPU for additional cooling exhausting again from either the back exhaust or top exhaust. Additionally...it may also exhaust from the GPUs itself. Having a PSU face upward would seem to disrupt airflow by sucking in the airflow that suppose to go to the GPUs or CPU. So by allowing the PSU to face down...it can have its own dedicated airflow by already getting the best air outside of the case and already exhausting from its own vent from behind without conflicting to the airflow inside of your case.

This is from my own point of view so anybody feel free to add or argue with me

^^^ Yep if it's running too hot then try the other way and see what your result are. If it's still hot then maybe your ambient temps are high...or your PSU is just doing it's job
