Default Tech Station Needed

I have an interest in obtaining a tech station or tech bench as I have heard it called. I see the HSPC version which looks pretty good, but are there any others that people here have experience with? This will not be for show, but for working purposes, so ease of use and functionality would be the major requirements.

I used the same one for quite a while.

I ended up using it only as a standoff setup, since the PSU and such on top made it almost as much of a hassle to mess with the mobo as in a full sized case. (I put the top part to the side and left the top open)

The posts are important though, for making sure any expansion cards are secure.

I saw this one on at Danger Den last night and it looked pretty cool, but kinda expensive at $149.99:

I noticed you could get the top deck version with the motherboard on top. Would that be an easier setup to work with. I looks to me like it would.

Ya, thanks. I saw that as well, but I think that is more a showpiece type of item. I think I want something that is more open.

Just grab an old case and cannibalize the mobo tray, and make your own. There are a lot of build logs on here about how to construct a techstation. Mine is in my sig, but it has been stuck in the construction stage for a while as it is at home and I'm at school.

Yes, a top deck version would probably be a lot easier. They didn't have one when I got it.

Cheap way to do it, yeah, but these are pretty solid construction, no metal on them (even the screws are plastic) so you never worry about shorting. Very solid quality. It's simple, but effective. If you have the money and you're going to be doing a lot of work on it, I'd say yeah, spring for it.

I have built a top deck bench station a while ago and don’t use it anymore. It’s nothing sophisticated but did a great job for benching. Give me a PM if you are interested.

sunbeamtech. I am very very happy with the build quality, functionality, stability and overall look of this. I researched allot of tech stations before purchasing this one. This one seems the most stable and priced accordingly tech station
