Default [Silverstone Raven RV01] vs [the non beliver] :D

which case is bigger, mine the Silverstone Raven RV01, or scottath's lian li 2010...? (i think thats what it is)

EDIT*: it has been confirmed, the contender is the "Lian Li V2010b"

you can view his case mod here

so it all started with a friendly chat as they all do, which case was bigger, my rv01, or scottath's [insert pc case name here] i forgot, but don't worry he will inform im sure, its a coolermaster or lian li or something, i cant remember, not important

ne way, the first test of measurement was the 50" monitor test, we both sized up our pc cases next to our 50" monitors to see which one was the biggest, needless to say results were inconclusive

so i have gone and scaled my case up against 2 very well known measurement methods [the ps3 method] and the [Final fantasy 8 gunblade method] here are my findings

so i started first by sizing up the challenge of the first test, the "ps3 method" out came the measurement tool and i was on my way

the size up

at first glance the measurement method seemed to have failed, and i was almost had to fetch the "Nintendo Wii method", luckily enough it was infact just the right tool for the job

so first off i started to measure the pus/rad section of the case

as you can see from my test the rad/psu section of the raven RV01 is approximately 1.5 ps3's long and 3/4's wide, and 1 ps3 high

as you can see the fit was tight, i would recommend you don't try this at home unless you have a spare ps3 and some dry lube (soap).

not to be outdone i moved onto step 2, measurement of the cases "lounge room" the main focal point of the case this is where the main components congregate and ponder the meaning of binary.

i once again grabbed my measurement tool, results were as follows

as you can see when the case is reassembled the measurement tool fits snug inside the raven rv01

results : still being 3/4 wide as the ps3 the lounge area can fit a entire ps3 in the center, with limited room to move, making the measurements of the lounge, 1x1 ps3for length and height, while being 3/4's wide

onto the final stage of measurement and we find ourselves using the gunblade method

results are as follows

results show that the raven exterior using the gunblade method shows the case to be 4/6ths long, and 3/5ths high

this concludes the challenge of which case is bigger, using the ps3 and gunblade method i have shown that my case the raven rv01 is bigger and i win by default cause i didn't add any statistics for scottath's lian li 2010..? (still unsure)

lol
i see an issue here - i dont have a PS3, Wii or a gunblade.....

What about normal 375mm cans?

My v2010b is:

4.8 cans high (+ then you can add the extra bit for the wheels at the bottom - making it about 5 cans high)
5.5 cans long

For a comparison of the PSU area - yours fits a PS3 in it - i can fit:
Maths time
Can volume = Pi*((~6.5/2)^2)*13 = 431.4cm^2
case PSU area volume = 59*18.5*21.5 = 23467.25cm^2

23467.25/431.4 = 54.4 cans

Hmm - i think me a win

Also - the before mentioned 50" TV test failed as i have a better TV.....i have a samsung 50" plasma - he has a *ive never heard of the brand* 4:3 plasma.....

my pics

Lian Li:

My current HTPC for comparison also (CM690)

Both photos look to have been taken at a similar angle (going by the cabinet) so they are comparable i think

Love the gunblade. Three things I want: a full-sized Revolver gunblade, a full-sized Hyperion gunblade, and Seifer's 'Fire Cross' trench.

Where'd you get the gunblade?
