Default the love affair for large cases

I noticed that most everyone is opting to buy larger and larger cases. I was also bit by that bug with my full tower rocketfish case. But after a while it was just too big. I mean who needs something that large. It just seems ostentatious to me... its like do you have a super computer in there or something? Do you really need a case to take up all that space?

Personally I love smaller cases because when you fill them to the brim with high end hardware is becomes a sleeper case. When friends come over and see my little case they are always blown away by the hardware it holds and how it can demolish most any game.

Its like that small civic that looks perfectly stock but can do a 1/4 mile in less then 10s. I think its an apt analogy.

The a05b is a perfect example of a small case that packs a huge punch. Nobody assumes its gonna be powerful and handle the high heat but it does with aplomb.

Of course larger cases have some advantages. Easier to work on, more room for hdd's and the like.

But still I think some of you guys should check out the smaller stuff out there. Not every case needs to be a haf or 1200.

I found a great little case for LAN partying provided you can ensure good airflow. It's called the Apex TK-381. Dig the handle.

That said, having a large case does the following:
  1. Gives your hands more room to do stuff inside the case,
  2. Allows you to use the larger ATX motherboards (That Apex case I linked to will ONLY take microATX boards or smaller),
  3. Can help give you optimal airflow by adding more fans and such.

I think my LianLi is the perfect size, I'd rather have a larger case though than a small one. My last case was rather small Antec and it couldn't get heat out fast enough.

That Apex case I linked to comes with a 400W PSU, at least the version at NCIX did. It's pretty well laid out, I'd say. I believe it even has a rear exhaust fan.

See the reviews at NCIX
See the reviews at Newegg

** Personal note: If you buy this case, take out the slot covers BEFORE you put the mobo in or you may scratch the traces on your board, which is BAD. **

I have a CM Storm Scout myself, and while not a small case, it's definitely smaller than most full towers out there.

I love it myself; it's the perfect size for me. It's big enough for me to work with, but small enough where there isn't too much empty space (save airflow room). Too much empty space makes a PC look poor to me, even if it does have two 295s.

I didn't get this Anted 300 that long ago, but I've already decided on getting the Panzerbox next month. Not much smaller than the 300, but its a little lighter, looks sharp and I like the extra width.

Before that I was looking at the HAF932 for my WC when I had it, cable management, etc., but now I'm starting to think that extra size would have drove me nuts in the long run.

To go along with your sleeper theory...larger cases can hold internal water cooling setups while still maintaining that "sleeper" look
