Top is screwed on. There are 2 screws behind the front bezel, and 6 screws above the motherboard. You can only really take the top off when everything is out. To remove the bays, you have to take off the front bezel, and remove the 4 outer-most screws, which is holding the fan bracket in place. Then go inside, and remove the silver screws holding the bays in. You can then remove the bay by pinching the tabs in the front, and pulling out.

I didn't need to de-rivet it, but if you want to, go for it.

Rivet gun- $15
Rivets- $4
Sandpaper- $2.00
Primer- $5 a can (3 cans) I got the good stuff
Paint- $3.50 a can (3 cans) Painter's Touch (Rustoleum)

If you don't de-rivet, it comes to about $27.5, but if you do de-rivet, it will be about $46.5. I had the sandpaper sitting at my house already, so I just approximated $2.00.

On a side note- Do NOT cheap out on your paint. Trust me, its not worth it. You cheap out, you will have to sand it down and do it over again, which is horrible. Get the good stuff, either Rustoleum or Krylon. I painted with Painters touch, which is made by Rustoleum, and its great.
