Here's a guide for you:

Taking apart the case will make it look better in the end, allowing you to get all the crevasses and corners that you couldn't typically get without removing the panels.

You want the rivets to remain unpainted? You could tape them all off?? A lot of work, but can be done. I have only dismantled one case to paint it. The others I just taped off what I did not want painted and went from there.

Just take your time and take notes as you take it apart.

If you really don't want to dis-assemble it then don't. Just know that it most likely won't look as good as if you dis-assembled it. Rivets are very easy to put back in and are even easier to remove. You just drill them out.

Hey.

I actually painted the inside of my tempest black. I, like you, did not de-rivet my case, and it worked just fine. It is comparable to a de-riveted case. However, the tempest is an easy case to spray without de-riveting. I'm sure that if I de-riveted my case, it would be even better. I sanded the case down, and sprayed it down outside with a garden hose to remove any metal files. I then used 3 cans of primer to apply 3 coats. Then used 3 cans of flat black for 3 coats. Make sure to let it dry for about 72 hours before you put stuff back together. Make sure you painter's tape the outside panels so you don't mess them up. Also, painter's tape the plastic tool-less brackets on the HDD cages, otherwise they won't fit. Here is my build log:

I stripped down everything. Fans, bays, bezels, everything. While you're in there, I suggest removing the grills on the 2 front fans, and the grill on the rear fan with a dremel. It makes it so much quieter, and increases air-flow.
