To all the gurus out there, need your advice on fans placement for my newi7 920 (air cool with Megahalem) build with HAF 922 case. So far I have plan to have the fans placed in this way...
__________________one 120mmx38mm fan on the CPU Megahalem (blowing towards the rear) one 120mmx38mm fan on the rear exhaust one 120mmx38mm fan on the top-rear exhaust one 120mmx25mm fan on the top-front exhaust (using the default rear fan that comes with the case) one 200mmx30mm fan on the front intake (default) one 200mmx30mm fan on the side intake (using the default top fan comes with the case) Will wire the above to a Lamptron FC-2 controller and all intake fans will have dust filters. My question for the above is will the 120mmx38mm on the two rear fans (top and rear) have enough clearance from the mobo (GA EX58 Extreme) and the megahalem? Also, any other advice/recommendation on the above setup? Main advice I would like to have is on the below: (1) Will it help to cool the system by placing fan behind the HDD cage (i.e. sucking air out of the HDD coming in from the front 200mm fan towards the mobo/GCs)? If I use a 25mm thick fan, is there enough clearance for large GC like the HD5870? (2) Is there any benefit to place a fan at the front in the 5.25" drive bay (using zip tie) and if it does, will it benefit more to have another at the back of the drive bay blowing air towards the RAM/CPU? (3) I have no plan to put a intake fan at the bottom at this moment, is this advisable to have? Thanks to all in advance...

Ok just a few answers for you. The setup seems ok. Putting in a 120x38 or 120x25 in the top cd drive bay does have the benefit of giving cool air to the cpu fan. I have two fans running in tandem there just under the cd drive and it helps.
__________________I would suggest u remove the HDD bay if you are planning to use less than 2-3 HDD's and let the 200mm fan actually cool something. Put the HDD's on top with your cd rom drive. if you cant do that, then remove the unused HDD brackets and then put in a fan blowing the air onto the bottom of the mobo. The intake fan is good if you have a GPU on the 3rd or 4th slot. otherwise its barely of any use.

Thanks mav2000. Will zip-tie two fans to the 5.25 drive bay as you suggested. As for the bottom intake, I will add one later if I go xfire in the future. As for the HDD bay, i'm afraid I have to keep it as I already have 3 drives now (2 of them in Raid 1) and probably add 1 more before the year ends.
