i think what they mean is "spill resistant", not spill proof. the keys are designed so the spill doesnt go into the pcb.

In all of the reviews for this keyboard it says "spill-proof"

All keyboards are spill proof as long as nothing hits the PCB, which is tiny and usually located in the upper right hand corner, underneath the 3 main LEDs.

You gotta remember, even time you press a key its like you are short circuiting it. So by spilling juice, it will just think that you are pressing many keys at once.

It's highly unlikely that a spill of applejuice on your keyboard is enough to damage it.

Turn it upside down and get all the juice out, then rinse it and drain the water out a few times, shake it around a bit, and then let it sit for a few days to dry.

hmm well i spilled it on like the left side of the keyboard. all of the drops beaded up so im even wondering if anything will spill out... is the bathtub thing safe?

EDIT: wow you guys are mega helpful!!! thanks so much! I think im going to try to turn it on to see if it works first, then if its fine i will just do the key taking off thing. if its not working well, its gonna go in the bathtub!

Just apple juice? Take off all the keys, put them in a bucket with hot water and dish soap. Shake it around for a few minutes, then take out the keys, let them dry or w/e. Clean of the keyboard itself with some rubbing alcohol or some distilled water. Vacuum it with a shop vac or such if you use the rubbing alcohol. If you use distilled water, you can use a hair dryer or something. I recommend the rubbing alcohol however because it will prevent any stickiness or dust sticking under the keys.

Better safe than sorry, haha. I've had my cell phone go through a wash cycle once, overnight submergence in alcohol saved the thing... Still using it to this day. Bit more extreme than his problem, but if any of that juice made it's way to critical components they'll corrode within hours. The chance that anything actually made it there is small, but meh.

You could probably get away with just removing and washing the keys and the underlying plastic.

You'd be surprised. If you don't take the proper measures to clean the mess it will cause issues.

I spilled a glass with a little bit of water and ice on my keyboard a few weeks ago. I took the keys off and let it dry for 2 days. After hooking it back up I could not get any of the keys to work (once or twice the keyboard worked, my key strokes were messed up). So I had to take it a part and clean the two contact sheets which are below the keys. Seemed like a bit of liquid got in between them and kept causing the keyboard to miss type or not even work. After I cleaned and dried them I was able to get the keyboard working again.

Its fine as long as you don't do anything crazy. I mean, dont go and DUNK the entire thing in water for an hour, just use the shower head to rinse it off.

And of course like i said, give it a few days to dry. If you try to use it while the PCB is wet you'll burn it.

That's an excellent way to ensure corrosion sets in. You have to use distilled water or, even better, alcohol, or you're just shooting yourself in the foot.
