I am looking to get a tv tuner for college. I have heard that some (hopefully not all) will not work with a digital cable signal. Given as the college I am going to has cable, what tv tuner card should I get? I was looking at the ones on newegg such as the Hauppauge 1600 but I really have no idea where to even start. Thanks guys!

For digital cable, look for a tuner that has QAM 64 and 256 capability.
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 1800 AverTV Combo PCI-e Either would be a good choice. I personally have this: Kworld ATSC 315U Works great, particularly for OTA HD, unfortunately digital cable in my area leaves much to be desired. ![]()

I really don't know what kind of cable they have, only that it comes in on a coax cable and is controlled by the tv. Those will work with that? Then sweet, thanks man!
