memorex 16X-DDL-IN not reading DVD ROM
Hey guys, My DVD burner is not reading my Company of Heroes Disc's. It worked fine before and now it's not. I put the game in and it starts to load and nothing appears to be in the drive. Any idea's?

Diagnose:
1) Try a different SATA/IDE port if possible 2) Try a different SATA/IDE cable 3) Try the disk in a different drive or computer 4) Bang head on wall 5) Reinstall Memorex drivers 6) RMA

The exact same DVD-ROM worked a month ago and it play DVD movies. My only guess is I updated the driver for the chipset, think that could be the issue?

does it work with other DVDs? or just company of heroes?
edit: chipset drivers shouldn't be, but may be the issue. Did you also update IDE/SATA controller drivers?

that could be the first sign of a damaged dvd rom but check with other dvd's to make sure

I think you tried Speedma11229's suggestion backward. Rather than try that disk on another computer, try other disks on that computer. If it is just the company of heroes disk, we bang heads. If all DVDs broke, the drive could be shot.

I would say that Company of Heroes does not like the newest chipset driver. Try a rollback and let us know.
(Or, see if there is a patch for NF4 chipsets)

I've tried a number of different games and movies. All of them work fine except for Company of Heroes.....sigh. So do I send it back for replacements or just down load it and use my key?
