Default what printer should i buy?

So im looking for a new printer, off the top of my head i currently have a hp psc-1400 multifunctyion printer. just a cheap 50 buck one my brother broght me like 2.5 years ago. Well i think its starting to die, Its eating HEAPS of ink and i cant afford to run it that way cos im a student,

I want a multifunction printer that is of good quality. i want a fast ppm rate as i hate having to wait 5 minutes for 5 pages to print.
i want colour but im not fussed with the quality of the colour, if a really really good pritner doesnt have colour i problay could settle for it.

i jsut mainly want the ink to be cheapish and last for ages.

So one person suggested a laser printer, but im not sure about small laser printers. ie havent heard anything bout them really.

What are some good pritners that the ink lasts a really long time on? Im not too fusesed on the inital payout, its more the long term running costs im looking at

I picked up an HP 4280 multifunction for like $49.99 at Office Max a little bit ago. It works perfect for what I do. As with all HP's the ink is rather expensive - but - that's what you get with a $50 printer.

If you don't want color, an HP 1018 or 1022 laser printer is cheap enough to do everything you need for printing.

Best of all, one toner cartridge goes for over 2,500 pages of regular printing. I've dumped the stupid ink cartridges that only last a week, needs cleaning and wastes more ink and paper.

Sure, color is nice, but for the cost justification, it's best with a good laser printer that isn't going to die any time soon nor go through ink so fast.
