I am having problems getting my router to make a connection on my new DSL modem. The modem is a Motorola 2210 from AT&T on an A-DSL connection using PPPoE. The router is a D-Link DGL-4300. With my old DSL modem, I had no problems connecting and had to do no special customizations. With this modem, however, I can't get it to connect with the router at all. I can get it to connect only when the modem is directly connected to the computer. I have tried the FAQ shown HERE and it still does not work.

How far is the wizard going? Assuming you are using the wizard?

@ OP: Expanding on what I just said, have you gone into router configuration and input your username and password? I had to do that on my Netgear router first before it worked. After you do that, you never have to use the wizard again.

I followed that AT&T FAQ step by step 5 times and it never connected. I manually configured my usename/password as well as using the wizard. Still no luck

Okay, i can NOT get this crap figured out at all. I now have a Speedstream 5100 and a Dlink DGL-4300 router. How in the heck do i configure everything so it will connect to the internet??
I've tried following step by step guides and they all do not work. Right now, I am following this article: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/11827 I got all the way down to the last step on the page "Instead of configuring the router for a DSL connection, configure it as a cablemodem that is issued a dynamic address via DHCP." Now, i have never had cable internet, so this step has me Stumped. How do i do that?

Just to let everybody know, whenever I connect the modem to my router's WAN port, the ethernet light on the modem doesn't even light up like when the modem is directly connected to my computer....why is it doing this and why in the hell is it so hard to connect to the internet? With my old Speedstream 5100 A00revision modem, all i did was connect as easy as pie, and now it is hard as hell just to configure it. This is crazy

Directly connect your PC to the modem, then surf into the modem. (192.168.1.254) Under the broadband link tab, select configure connection. While in this screen you'll see the option for PPOE and so fourth, select bridged ethernet. While your at that screen also change your connection from on demand to always on. (If it's not exactly there search around, I'm trying to do this from memory and I might not be exaclty right as to where it is.) Now connect your modem to your router, and PC to your router. Surf into your router and enter your username and password. You should then be able to surf. Some times also a good disable and enable on your NIC helps reset connections, I'm always amazed at how often I've done that and it helped.

Okay, I've gotten the modem into bridged mode...the only thing i did not do that you suggested was changing the option from "on demand" to "always on" Maybe that will do the trick....will try when i get home from work.
