ok so one guy asked my to put a second Dvd drive in to his computer (DELL) i got him an IDE Dvd drive when i puged them together (new on master old on slave) New one works fine but the second one reads the cd fine but when i try to play a video or do anything that makes the green light flash computer starts to lag my mouse movements are not smooth and video skips . I tryed to change them around then the new one lags being as slave. So what can i do to stop 2nd DVD rom stop lagging my computer?

Yea, try cable select, seems most newer IDE drives operate much better and friendlier in that setting then the old master, slave direct setting. Just be sure to put the master drive at the end of the cable and the slave on the second one. I've had many issues that sinply that was the problem.

do you have them set in the correct order on the cable. i know you have to have a certain drive on a certain plug. i think its the farthest one is master and middle is slave.
EDIT: yea guy above me just beat me LOL

k thx guys i will try putting old on master at the end of the cable and new as cable select in the middle also i might try different cable i will post back when i have tryed it
* UPDATE so i put old drive as master (top on the cable) and new as cable select (middle) still had the problem then went into Bios and old drive was listed as PATA 0 (i think i dont know the exact name) and PATA 1 was disabled i enabled it to see if it worked and it actually did work. Now it is much better i tryed copying Dvd before took 40min and now it took 11 min. wow what a big difference! Thx OCN again for help!
