Hello and welcome to my review of the Razer DeathAdder gaming mouse. I would like to start off by stating that I have a considerable amount of experience with high-end gaming mice and consider myself educated enough on the subject have a fairly solid and accurate opinion of them. I have owned the following gaming mice; Razer Diamondback, 2 Razer Copperheads, Logitech G5, Logitech G7 and now the Razer DeathAdder.
The following information is taken directly from the official Razer website. Quote:
![]() The contents of the DeathAdder's box are shown below. Everything is packed nicely and very easy to get to. Contents include the DeathAdder mouse, installation guide, certificate of authenticity, quick start guide and a user's manual which includes the installation disc. ![]() ![]() ![]() The next set of pictures are closeups of the mouse itself to help give you an idea of how the mouse will feel in your hand. I was upset to see dirt and scuff marks on my mouse as I took it out of the box. These pictures are of the brand new mouse, I have barely touched it at this point. I did not attempt to clean it yet because I wanted to write a review of the DeathAdder right out of the box. After all, why should we have to clean a brand new mouse? I must note that I've never had a new Razer product have any kind of defect including dirt and scuff marks out of the box. I'm confident that this is a rare case and should not sway your opinion of the DeathAdder. My first reaction while holding the mouse was, "Wow, this is different." I was expecting it to have a similar feel to some of Razer's other mice but I have never used a mouse that feels like this. Even though it is a unique, perhaps radical mouse, I am already becoming comfortable with it after just an hour or so of using it while writing this review. I must stress that not everyone will like this mouse. The most important thing is that the mouse is comfortable in your hand and that you do not have to use any extraneous efforts to use it or any of its features. Buying a mouse online is not always your best bet because if you have never used it before, you will not know how it feels in your hand until after it is delivered. ![]() My first impression of the bottom of the DeathAdder was that it looks quite strange and almost like a rectangle. I do not have this impression whatsoever while using the mouse. ![]() This frontal view of the DeathAdder mouse shows one of my very few dislikes of the mouse. There is actually a gap in between the left and right mouse buttons. This is very noticeable and bothersome at least to some extent while using the scroll wheel. The scroll wheel itself however is fairly large and has a nice contoured grip which makes for very nice, responsive scrolling. It does not have a tilt wheel though. ![]() This picture really shows the curve of the DeathAdder and also shows exactly why this mouse is for right hands only. Notice that I said "right hands" and not righties. I am completely left handed, using a mouse is about the only thing that I do predominately with my right hand. The left side of the mouse curves up in an almost exaggerated fashion. It is very noticeable while using the mouse as well. It feels almost like there is a big bump underneath my pointer finger's knuckle, almost as if it isn't supposed to be there. But of course it is supposed to be there and I became comfortable with it after a short amount of time. ![]() This side shot also helps to show the curve of the mouse. I tend to keep my ring and pinky fingers completely off of the right mouse button and on the side of the mouse. This causes very slight discomfort in my pinky finger, but I don't think it is anything I cannot adjust to. Also take note that unlike the Copperhead, the DeathAdder does not have 2 buttons on the right side. This does not bother me though because it is nearly impossible to press the right side buttons on the Copperhead with any real accuracy. It is in fact quite uncomfortable. ![]() Here you can see the two buttons on the left side of the DeathAdder. They are in a similar position as the buttons on the Copperhead, but they are a bit larger and protrude out of the mouse a considerable amount more. This is an excellent improvement over the Copperhead, something that I was pleasantly surprised with. While gaming with the Copperhead it can be difficult to press one of these buttons with the quickness and accuracy that you need in the heat of a battle. The tactile response of these two buttons is actually very nice. ![]() The next set of screenshots is a comparison between the DeathAdder and Copperhead mice. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The following batch of pictures shows the DeathAdder along with the Copperhead on my Func Surface 1030 mousepad for further comparison and to show what the mice look like when they are connected to a computer. ![]() ![]() I am very pleased with how the Deathadder feels while being used with the Surface 1030 mousepad. I have very good control and accuracy but there is some friction beneath the mouse. This is because I am using the rough side of the mouse pad. The opposite side of the mouse pad is smooth, and the user should decide which is more comfortable for himself or herself. ![]() I turned the flash off for this screenshot to show the lighting effects, but the picture does not do it justice. ![]() Here we have a screenshot of the DeathAdder's software. Instead of using the bundled software disc I went to Razer's website and downloaded the latest software and firmware. I attempted to update the firmware but it actually, I have yet to try it again. You can see that there are plenty of options to really customize the DeathAdder. You can change the function of each button, load different profiles, change the polling rate and DPI and even turn the lights on or off. The software appears to be lightweight and works exactly as it should, I have yet to have problems with it. ![]() This concludes my review of the Razer DeathAdder mouse. I will give the DeathAdder mouse a rating of 8 out of 10. It did not get a 9 or 10 rating from me for a couple of reasons. The gap between the left and right mouse buttons can be a little annoying, and the addition of a tilt wheel would have been nice. Overall I am quite satisfied with my purchase and believe that it was worth the $50.29 that I paid for it. I could have easily spent more money on a different gaming mouse. If you have any questions about this mouse, feel free to post in this thread or send me a PM, I will do my best to help. Thanks for reading! ![]()

I've never liked the DeathAdder.
Maybe it is just me, but whenever my hand is resting on it in "clicking position" I feel like the joints in my fingers are hyper-extended or something. -Tim

Thanks.
![]() I have not had similar feelings about this mouse at all. I must stress that not everyone is going to like any particular type of mouse because everybody has different hands. The best way to go about purchasing a mouse is to go to a store that have mice on display and feel them for yourself.

I can definitely agree with that.
I loved the DeathAdder and wanted to buy it, up until I actually got my hands on one. And great review by the way. It motivates me to contribute more.
