Sorry for making another one of these topics. The others aren't really asking for the same thing that I want. :P Basically I'm looking for:
__________________-Good quality (feels nice to type on, fairly quiet if possible, easy on the wrists) -A few programmable keys (I really like the logitech G11 for how many it has) -I do not need backlit keys. I wouldn't mind the feature, but I don't look at my keyboard while I'm typing so it's largely unnecessary. Now, I was considering just buying a cheap keyboard now, and saving up for a logitech G15. However, I was wondering if the G11 is a better buy? The G11 has more hotkeys but no screen. How useful is the LCD screen exactly? What does it show? Also, I am open to suggestions besides the G11 and G15. However, if it costs more than maybe $60, I'll need to buy a cheap keyboard first and then save up. Thanks all.

When I first got my G15, I tried to find as much things as possible that I can run on it. I could pretty much get Master Shake on it rocking out to my songs with Winamp but that was about the coolest thing I did.
The LCD got old pretty quick and I just finally didn't care. I now use it as a clock and got rid of my desktop clock. It's easier on me because I don't have to turn on my monitor just to know what time it is. Another feature I still use is the performance usage. This comes really handy if you want to know how much ram you got left or how much CPU usage a game is without Alt+Tabbing or anything that keeps track of the usage. I bet you can also program it to display temps of your system but I don't know where you can download something like this so don't ask me how. If you don't have any use for the LCD, G11 is a good buy. Best feature that both the G11 and G15 have is the ability to disable the Windows key with the flick of a switch. have yet to see this on any other keyboards.

That is actually on quite a lot of keyboards now. ( I think Saitek uses it now ) but anyways tthe g15 helps me quite a lot and I play CS:S so it shows vent info for me which helps me a lot. Also the G keys are quite awesome as i have the bound to buy buttons and odd things like that. if you don't need the lcd get the g11. But like I said earlier Saitek makes some nice keyboards as well.

Hmmm, I do like the idea of using it as a resource monitor. Maybe I will save up for the G15 and just use a bad keyboard for now (I dug up an ancient keyboard in my storage room, so that means I don't even need to buy a cheap one while I wait).

Okay, I have a few questions about the G15 for someone who owns it and I didn't want to make a new topic. I will be buying the revised version.
__________________1. Can you turn off the backlight completely while using it? 2. Can you disable the windows key? 3. The wikipedia page for the keyboard says the 6 macro keys can have 3 macros each. How do you switch between the 3 macros for each key? And is it convenient? 4. Is the keyboard comfortable to use? (I have a history of carpal tunnel, I don't want something that will stress my wrists). 5. Does it have any form of cord management? (like to run a headset under the keyboard?) Thank you very much in advance. ![]()

My mate has the rev.1 G15, and you can turn the lighting off, the keys are very comfortable and quiet (I have tendonitis in my left wrist so I feel your pain), however I don't believe their is any cable management. They might have changed this with rev.2 though.
The macro's are changed using keys above the G keys, they are called M1, M2, and M3. I'm not sure about disabling the windows key. ![]() Goodluck mate.

2. Yes. Big BIG plus for when you're gaming. 3. To switch between macros, you would have to press the M buttons on top. You can have 24 macros total for rev 2 (rev 1, you can have 54 macros total). 4. I'm currently using the wrist rest that came with my G15 and I find it comfortable to use. 5. My G15 rev 1 has wire management on the bottom and they look like they're mainly for routing your USB cords if you have anything USB connected to the keyboard. The rev 2 looks like it also has wire management (here, scroll down a bit to see the bottom of the keyboard). I bet you can run headset cords under it with ease.
