Default PCI parallel adapter to reciept printer problem

Im trying to get my reciept printer running ( EPSON M188B U1220B). Im running a Maximus Extreme Motherboard which doesnt come with a built in parallel port , so I bought a PCI parallel card with all applicable drivers installed. The card is recognized by the device manager as a working adapter.

The printer has all vista drivers installed. I can play around with the printer options (such as if I want it to cut the paper or if I rather rip it, monochrome or color, etc) however my computer fails to connect witht eh printer. In hte printer section of the control panel it simply says "Not Avaliable". Ive played around with the properties and the ports setting yet nothing.

I have no clue what to try next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Did you check in device manager to make sure there are no resource conflicts?

Make sure that the LPT port the printer driver is using matches the LPT port of the card?

Is it set to ECP/EPP mode?

Is the BIOS option called "Plug and Play OS" set to "Yes"?
