Now I'm pretty sure this isn't a mechanical keyboard, but I did have a Mitsumi that had a much better than average feel...it was one like this:
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/21..._keyboard.html

Anything special about these, you think?

Also, It would be worth mentioning the Apple aluminum keyboard as a scissor-switch, its got a good amount of feedback for having a membrane.
http://www.apple.com/keyboard/

Just make sure to get the one with the numeric pad.

Those apple boards are regarded as one of the worst boards to type on.
They use very mushy rubber domes and have horrible shape keys to boot.

I think the Mitsumi is a high quality rubber dome if memory serves.

Really? I find them very springy and responsive. I type faster on this one I'm using than on those new Dell keyboards. The flat keys are a little weird, I'll give you that.

The Mitsumi was the first keyboard I ever really liked better than others.

This is interesting I'd like to try one out and see if it's really worth the price. I love my G15 and never had problems. If this is supposed to be that much better than I'd have to give it a whirl.

So USB keyboards are inferior to PS/2? What about macros. Are there any PS/2 keyboards that allow at least a few programmable keys?

yeah but how long would it take for a dome-switch keyboard's keys to wear out?
I'd be happy with 3 years use out of a keyboard, and I don't think I could keep a keyboard (no matter what kind of switch) for long enough for the keys to wear out.

Nobody said anything about USB being inferior to PS/2. I'm sure there's some sort of mechanical switch programmable keyboard/keypad out there.

The unicomp keyboards are only about $70, that's about the same as a G15, isn't it?

I paid 60-70 for my G15 and got it before they changed the style of it.
