If you play FPS than any cheap keyboard will do, just at least a name brand like Logitech. You would want to spend on money on your mouse.

Actually, IMO the downside to a MX Revolution is the fact that it's laser.

If you're right handed, the Razer DeathAdder is a good option for the price. The keyboard doesn't matter nearly as much, so any $10 basic Logitech is okay.

As for the keyboard, either get a mechanical typing keyboard or a regular $10 keyboard.

For the keyboard, as long as you don't care for the fancy lights and stuff (which by your post it doesn't look like you do) you can pick up a good, used mechanical keyboard off of ebay for around $20. The IBM Model M, Dell AT101W, and Compaq MX11800 are all good choices and should be very cheap. You can also use keywords like "Clicky", "Mechanical", "Cherry", or "ALPS" to find other alternatives. Virtually all those boards use the same key matrix which allows for easy WASD gameplay. And they are much nicer to type on than a cheap $10 plain old rubber dome board and should last at least a good 20 years if you need it to.
As for the mouse, you should really try them out for yourself to see what you find comfortable. A really good performing cheap mouse, by the way, is the MS Intellimouse 1.1a. You should still look at other alternatives you can afford, but if you really have to save money it's a very good choice.

OK, the death adder looks tempting, but I don't need the best... Is there something black and glossy? I don't care about finger prints...

hmmm... what about the mouse? I'm seriously considering going basic... if I do, where can I find a purdy one? Black, of course.
