Spend the $$ on the mouse, for the keyboard just get a $10 logitech one, they type exactly the same just without lights

You could spend under $10 on just a simple usb keyboard. I know logitech and microsoft are both available on the egg. Dump your cash into a good mouse... and I would really consider going wired if you're thinking about gaming. Aside from the "get a wired mouse" recommendation, I'll offer up the "go fondle a few different mice to see what fits your hand best" recommendation as well.

Better yet, get a decent mechanical/tactile keyboard, and use it for gaming.

Just because a keyboard can type does not make it equal to all other keyboards. Ergonomic keybaords are better for typing papers/reports/work comapred to gaming where a straight keybaord is alright for gaming. A $10 keyboard is not going to get you as far as a better quality keyboard. Things like the distance you have to push for it to register you keystroke, the amount of keys that can be pressed at once along with other things like height and key size should also be considered. Not all keybaords are equal.

If you're not gaming, a cheap keyboard will suit you fine, if you are you'll need one with at least some form of n-key rollover.
Mice are relative, what is comfortable for one person will cause another person's hand to cramp up. So as stated before, definitely try a few before you decide.
