Default Logitech G15 - first or second generation?

Hm.

I'm trying to decide on which version of the Logitech G15 to buy. The first and second generations of this keyboard are both quite good, and have slightly different features.

Is there anyone here who has both keyboards? What are your thoughts regarding them? What are the pros and cons of each keyboard?

I have the second generation and I like it. I have heard that most people like the second generation. The first generation is Blue backlit while the second is orange. The second generation has only 6 macro buttons while the first has 12 or 18 I believe, but on the second you have 3 different modes you can set the macros in, so in reality, you have 18 macros, you just have to remember which ones are programed what in each mode.

Just a note. THE USB PORTS ARE NOT USB 2.0, they are 1.1. I was disappointed because one of my flashdrives does not work in the keyboard because I think it wants to draw too much power or something like that. overall though, it is a nice keyboard.

Bumped, for for OCN's thoughts.

The G19 looks to be a pretty nice keyboard, but the cost is really quite high. Anyone have this keyboard?

Also, does the G15 ghost, or act odd in any way, when you're using multiple keys? I'm just curious how reliable it is as a gaming keyboard.

I have not had any problems with the G15 so I would say it is reliable. I have had problems with other keyboards where certain keys would not work if you were pressing another key, got annoying in racing games where I was trying to brake and turn at the same time. Another note on the G15, it doesn't really have anything to do with the keyboard itself, but I found the program to make your own programs to use on the LCD difficult to use. I have had the keyboard for 6+ months now still can't figure out how to use it. It really isn't a problem for me though because I just use the premade programs.

I would love to have a G19 and would have gotten one over the G15 if not for the price. Since I don't have it though, I can't really say how reliable it is or how well it works.

I have the G15 first generation. it has 18 macro buttons and also the ability to store 3 different profile (accessible with 3 buttons) like the newer g15.
The main difference is that the older version have some paint problem and the points where you touch it a lot (ad example I use a lot the left shift and keep a finger all the time under the space bar) loose the paint after some time.
It isn't a real problem if the point is on the normal surface, but it's a little problem when it happen on a key. When the paint on the keys go away, you can't see the symbol no more and the key it's like a lamp (the paint is covering a transparent key. if you take off the paint, the key is trasparent and the light is all over the surface).

In any case, the keyboard is working very well. I suggest you to buy the second generation. The paint problem should be corrected.

I definitely vote for the first Generation. My main reason is I don't like the orange backlighting. Blue is definitely more my style. Also, there's just no reason to me to reduce the number of macro buttons. I've had my G15 for probably close to three years, and it's still going strong with absolutely no functionality issues.

Save the money, get the G19. It's worth it!

I went from my G15 Generation 1 to this... such a huge improvement. The LCD looks amazing... The G15 LCD just looks terrible IMO, I rarely used mine because of the quality of it.
