I just got g500 with steelseries qck pad.
This mouse is amazing, I had a tough choice between deathadder and the g500 because they both were in my price range and met my needs. But the g500 met more needs because it had hyperscroll (previously has mx1100) and I could not go back to click scroll, hell, the school's mouse having the clicking; I seriously hate that now.
If your purely gaming, then get deathadder with qck pad, you have a deathly combo.
But if you need the mouse for other needs besides game such as internet surfing or school work, then get g500. G500 with qck pad is also a deathly combo anyway.
I will say that the g500 is so conforable...
For pads, just get the qck, lol. Its cheap and its all you need, more expensive ones are useless for the price, like razer's pads.
Hope this helps man

don't forget there is 2 versions of the DeathAdder the original which uses the Avago 3688 Optical Sensor and the new one which uses the 3.5G Infared Laser Sensor aka the Philips Twin-Eye Laser Sensor which is also used in the Storm Sentinel Advance and the Razer Mamba.

I think the Avago 9500 used in the Logitech G500, G9x and SteelSeries Xai is the superior sensor.

the combination of layers that makeup a surface isn't very complicated usually rubber -> sponge -> plastic pattern or vice versa. the patterns are usually discussed in detail on review sites.

there isn't many surfaces that are incompatible with mice either, any of the mice we have discussed in this thread will work on just about any surface but what you want is maximum potential for tracking regardless of what CPI setting you are using. if you spent $130 on a Razer Mamba but used it on a inexpensive surface and it performed at the same level as a $54 Ideazon Reaper wouldn't that bother you?

if I bought the Logitech G500 and needed a inexpensive surface I would probably purchase a SteelSeries S&S.

if I bought the Cooler Master Storm Sentinel Advance, Razer Mamba or Razer DeathAdder revised I would probably purchase a Razer Pro|Pad. white surfaces seem to improve the tracking of that sensor.
I just might pick up that G500 + S&S combo. Do you have any links to any well done mouse surface comparisons so i can learn a bit more about the pro's and con's of each surface with different sensors? The SP put me off because of the newegg reviews of people wearing them out rather quickly. If i was to somehow repair my exactmat with new feet would this surface be a bad idea for the G500? Thanks again.

Thank you for those graphs. I had one more question for you about the mice specifications. You said in your opinion the G500 sensor is the better sensor compared to the CM sentinel. But after checking their advertised specifications it seems the sentinel has better specs? Am i reading them correctly?

G500 = 165 inches per second with a maximum acceleration of 30G.

CM Sentinel = 235 inches per second with a maximum acceleration of 50G.

yes but the graphs don't reflect that do they? when they talk about Acceleration and IPS under specifications they are base numbers that solely depend on the surface.

I use Razer Mamba/Logitech G9 with Razer Destructor pad. I think out of all the surfaces Ive used in past, Destructor is easily one of the best. I Just recently bought the Mamba and its great for wireless gaming. Only con's are the price, but if you got the cash to throw around I feel its a great combo.

^ Like what the dude above me said, the Destructor is one of the best mousepads,

as for the mouse, I would suggest the Lachesis (my personal favorite), but many normal people would not like the Lachesis due to its shape and holding style, so I would suggest my second, the DeathAdder. Or the more high-end of it, the Mamba?

Not the be pro-Razer or to sound like a Razer fanboy,
but I really do believe this is where Razer shines in this department of gaming peripherals.

I actually have a death adder that I'm trying to sell because I prefer my new g500. It's not that the death adder is a bad mouse by any means, but the g500 just fits my hand better and hyperscroll is amazing. The former is the most important thing to me. I bought the death adder in the first place based on suggestions given by members of this forum but it just didn't fit my hand as well as the g500. For the sake of reference, I'm 5'10" 170 lbs with relatively long fingers.

I know several people who vastly prefer the shape of razer mice to anything else and that's perfectly fine because it works great for them.

I reviewed and own a CM Storm Sentinel Advance, and CM sent me a mouse-specific pad to use with it called the HS-M Battle Pad SSK. It has been an awesome combination. Highly recommend.
