This was one of the mice that I was considering purchasing to replace my deathadder. Is there a particular feature/features that stand out or that you really enjoy that separates this mouse from other mice on the market that you may have considered?

Wait, the new deathadder uses a laser sensor? I noticed razer calls it an "infrared sensor" without admitting whether it is optical or laser. If it truely does use a laser sensor, isn't that like treasonous?

I'd recommend an optical mouse. Laser mice have acceleration problems which is bad for FPS games.

It is explained here. That is a few years old, but AFAIK it is still accurate.

BTW, the hyperscrolling is nice, but only for web browsing and general use. I would never use it for games. In games you'd have to turn it off. It's not a big deal, but my deathadder has a much firmer scroll wheel than the hyperscroll on click mode. (I have a vx nano for my laptop)

That was a really good read. Thanks . I looked on amazon and they're going for $42.99 with free shipping. I think I'll pick one up to try it out.

Dont break your perfectly good G9, buy the sentinel for $43 free shipping at buy.com. If you do prefer it over your G9 im sure you can sell it for at least as much as you spent on the sentinel. In the end you lose no money and get a new mouse.

I did end up purchasing the CM sentinel because of the $43 free shipping deal at buy.com. This is the same pad CM sent you correct? Know of anywhere else that it is available? I have purchased from SVC before and they were great but i like to shop around because of shipping and prices.

That is the pad. Mine came straight from CM, so I am not sure of retailers that carry it.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think lasers have advanced far enough that those limitations don't apply any more. Either that, or I'm constantly lucky in all the FPS' I play =/

Avago 3688 aka Razer 3G Infared Optical (DeathAdder Rev 1, Boomslang CE 2007, Razer Salmosa, Diamondback Rev 2)

Philips Twin-Eye Series aka Razer 3G Infared Laser (Razer Lachesis, Razer Orochi)

Philips Twin-Eye Series aka Razer 3.5G Infared Laser (Razer Mamba, Razer Naga, Razer DeathAdder Rev 2, Cooler Master Storm Sentinel Advance)

Optical Mice are no longer superior on paper.

It's not that laser mice are apparently terrible when you use them, its just that they don't have as consistent accuracy. Read the link for more detail. gonX said he was using a g5 before until he realized the problems with it.

Optical mice never were better on paper, laser have always had better specs. Laser mice generally have better dpi. That does not mean they are better.
