Default G500, Sentinel, or Xai

So yeah, I'm about to buy a new gaming mouse and I have narrowed down my choices to 3. I'd also like to mention that I've already owned an MX518 and a Deathadder, and although I liked them both I want to try something new, so no need to recommend them. The 3 I am considering are:

- Logitech G500
I love the shapes of these Logitech mouse, and this one seems to have a pretty nice tracking sensor plus hyperscroll. I always heard that the Deathadder beat the G5 in tracking but how does this G500 stack up? I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on this mouse, and the thumb buttons have me a bit skeptical. It seems easy to miss the button you want or accidentally press down two at the same time.

- CM Storm Sentinel Advance
I've heard some good things about this flashy mouse. The tiny LCD, custom LEDs etc are nice little additions but supposedly this mouse has one of the best laser sensors on the market. I'm just not totally sure about the comfort or build quality of it. Its not that I doubt they are good its just that I just haven't really heard from many people with first hand experience with it.

- Steelseries Xai
I think this one is new but I've heard plenty of great things about it. Great technology, nice looking build and surface, seems comfortable. The only problem with this one is the price and trying to find it from a reputable dealer.

So, any advice? I'd say both comfort and tracking are equally important.

Would you consider anything else? If so, take a look at the Microsoft Sidewinder mouse (Not the x5 or x8 or w/e just sidewinder). I have it and it's actually the best mouse I have ever used. It is rather big, so if you have small hands you might not like it but otherwise it's really good. I have tried the logitech G5, the Death Adder, the Razer Lachesis, the Sidewinder X8 and several other mice and by far the Sidewinder wins. I highly recommend it.

Get the CM Storm Sentinel it doesn't have prediction which helps in FPS so you can get a better shot. Review here

I'll consider the Sidewinder and read some reviews on it.

I am starting to lean towards the Sentinel, especially since you can get it for just over $40 right now. I'd still like to hear a few more opinions though.

I had this same problem, i was struggling to decide between the G500 and the sentinel, but when it popped up for $43 free shipping that made my decision for me. I think the cheapest you can find the G500 for is $60 free shipping from amazon. its not that much more expensive if you prefer the G500 and i dont think you can go wrong with either.

I can vouch for SteelSeries quality but not for the Xai; I have the Ikari.

So, any advice? I'd say both comfort and tracking are equally important.
as I said to Auld the SteelSeries Xai uses the new Avago 9500 Sensor the same Sensor used in the Logitech G500 and G9x it can equally track at 6 metres a second by 100,000 counts a second like the Philips Twin-Eye but is much more reliable.

the Xai is a big improvement over the Ikari. it has a auto-adjusting lift feature. the LCD is higher resolution and instead of just displaying profile name and cpi it has a scrollable menu in it which has almost every single driver feature in it except creating macros and profiles like you can edit jitter and prediction values, edit freemove values, edit cpi increments in 1 for both x and y axis, edit polling rate in increments of 1. the configuration of this mouse is impressive.

SteelSeries uses higher quality wheels and tact switches in their mice which are far better in my opinion than microswitches. tact switches are quieter and have a higher response time for example my Ikari Buttons average 4.6ms where a DeathAdder microswitches are 8.6ms but like mechanical keyboards not everybody likes the tactile feedback. looks like they are using the 0.5mm PTFE Feet the same ones on the Ikari for the Xai which are heavy duty compared to Razer stock feet so you won't have to go out and purchase Mouse Skates or a PTFE Sheet right away.

^ Nice post.

With that said, do you know of a good place to buy a Xai? I've searched Froogle and it seems to be in stock at some websites I've never heard of so I'm just a bit skeptical about that.

I believe it was released Friday October 30th. not sure why it's only in select stores and not widely available. you can purchase it through their website.
