Default USB reader driving me crazy

So i just recieved most of my parts for a new build, and i put them together and have been using them without a case for some time. Anyways, when I first put my build together, the system was buggy as hell, and I got the BSD a number of times before I updated to the latest drivers. One such time was when I inserted a rosewill usb sd reader. Anyways, now whenever I insert the sd reader, windows will inform me that it has installed the device, I can see a card reader and a mass storage device as being the listed installed components, but the drive will not show up in my computer. However, it will show up in disk manager, but the computer will not let me do anything to it in disk manager because as soon as you try to it says that it is no longer connected. To top it off, I finally just tried to use a different reader (the one built into my monitor), and the SD card is instantly recognized and shows us as drive M: in my computer. When I put it back into the rosewill reader however the same problem occurs! I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the reader to no avail. I have also tried formatting the card on another computer, and have checked that the reader still works on other machines, which it does. Does anyone have any idea on why this might be happening?

sounds like its conflicting with existing hardware....try plugging it in while unplugging something else until it works

Or it is a bad reader. I have had 2 Rosewill card readers go out on me in the past year. Both times it started acting up as the OP deoscribed.

I thought (wished) the reader was broken, however it will work on my laptop no problem! I have tried unplugging everything but the mouse and the reader to no avail as well... any other ideas?
