ok guys, i just picked up this wired 360 controller the other day for pc, maily to play dead space.
anyways, i started up pcsx2 one day, ( a ps2 emulator ) and tried to assighn commands with my xbox 360 controller, but it ony accepted a few buttons while the other wouldn't respond.
i tested them them in the controlpanel and EVERY button worked.
so i thought that it was just a problem with the program.
well it turns out that i tried assighning buttons to oblivion today and the same buttons wont assighn.

i dont know what to do...

i've used this contoller to play crisis, dirt, and dead space like yesterday but they still won't assighn.

so is this a driver issue or a broken controller?

try reinstalling the drivers and switching what usb port you are using.

Dont use pcsx2 to assign the buttons. Vista normally installs the drivers automatically and you should be able to configure it through control panel.

don't you have to set the buttons to something in pcsx2? otherwise it does not know to accept input...

ok i changed the usb port, and uninstalled then reinstalled it.

still nothing. oblivion still wont except the analog stick or the triggers, which sucks.
do you think its broken? or a problem with windows???

Games nowadays are console ports. They (generally) play much better with a controller. I'm currently playing my 5$ Assassin's Creed with my 360 controller. M+KB sucks in comparison

There are, however, exceptions.

(NOTE: THIS IS NOT A M+KB VS CONTROLLER FLAMESTARTER) It's fact, some games are meant to be on M+KB eg starcraft


edit: most games have an option for x360 controller, make sure you select this option.

I am not sure about oblivion, never played it, but i know the triggers only work in games made for the 360 controllers for me.

that game sucks with a controller compared to keyboard and mouse. it gives you so many more button options.

I have heard that Xpadder works well too.

I too just recently bought a 360 controller. For third person games a controller is at times better. I have been playing AC1 and the controller is the only way to go. I will be using it for Dead Space and Mass Effect as well.

maybe your right.
maybe some games dont accecpt the analog sticks form the 360 remote.
well looks like im going to have to play shadow of the colossus ith a keyboard
