Errr, I don't understand that. At all. All 3 arrows point to the mouse wheel. The arrows are at slight angles, but I can't scroll the wheel at an angle. And if you mean tilting the wheel to the side then scrolling, then that does not make it any more quiet, at least on mine. If you mean using the tilting for scrolling instead of scrolling the wheel, then no. I don't want to do that. That would feel stupid to me (not saying it's stupid, but it would just feel stupid when I do it).

I have them both. For online shooters I always favor the 518. I realize that peoples preferences are different so I don't claim its better but for me its what I like the most. My 518 is almost 3 years old also where is the g5 is basically new.

When you use the scroll wheel button (Mouse3 button) it makes less noise when pressing it towards the long finger instead towards the index finger.

+1 vote for mx518. i've had mine for 2 years now and have zero complaints. bout 8 of my buddies also use them over anything else.

Three things about that:
1) I don't wanna do that.
2) I scroll with my middle finger, not my index finger. So that would be kind of awkward to push that way, for me. Even more awkward than pushing to the left while I scroll.
3) It is not any more quiet when I tilt it to the right (towards my middle finger) while I scroll. Not the tiniest noticeable bit. On my mouse, anyway.

I meant when you use the scroll button, not the scrolling it self.
When I open tabs I use the scroll button instead of holding Ctrl+Left click.

Oh, gotcha. I dunno, just kind of awkward to do still. The G5's middle wheel (at least mine) is also kind of hard to push down (for a mouse wheel). I'd rather just put up with the noise. But I do the same thing, I click my scroll wheel down to open new tabs, I never use CTRL+click unless I'm mouse-less and using my laptop's touchpad/trackpad.
