Default Browsing for a new desk

Hey guys. I've been basically slowly but surely upgrading my room setup these past few weeks. I'm about to bring an i7 build home this summer, but like preparing for a baby, i gotta get the nursery setup. Because right now, this is my desk lol.

Anyways, while I've been looking for a desk that can fit my needs, i've decided i'd need a desk that can hold the following.

Desktop Tower
22 inch monitor
Xbox 360
Mouse/Keyboard
2.1 speaker system
laptop

So this desk needs to have a decent amount of room. Right now it seems that this is the best choice for me right now, what are your guys' thoughts?

http://www.officemax.com/catalog/sku...^return_skus~Y

I was considering setting it up in this way, though I don't know where the 2.1 would go.

But do you guys think this desk would be big enough? it doesn't look terribly big in the photo but the desc says it's 60inches long on both ways which would suffice i believe. If you guys have any suggestions I'm all ears.

Thank ya.

That desk looks big enough, but do you have an ikea located near you? If you do i would walk through and see what they have, they have really nice stuff for really good prices.

There isn't really an ikea near me. And from what I've seen from the website, the desks that are in a good price range won't fit my needs. But what I'm looking for is something like the link I gave. A nice L desk with storage would be nice. I think that may be the winner, i'm just hoping it's as big as described.

The last two 'desks' I have owned have been a 6 foot countertop and a 'defective' solid oak table I picked up for cheap. When you want big, it's hard to get something cheap that was designed for that use.

This is what I used now, it was taken a few hours ago actually. $250 for basically a two-leaf kitchen table. It's on the deep side, but I like having enough room I can work on stuff at the same table everything else is on.

This was the only one I could find of my college desk a few years ago. Basically was just a 6 foot countertop (maybe $50-60 at Lowes/Home Depot) on top of an MDF receiver stand and a file cabinet. Pretty cheap and also big enough for anything really. It actually about as wide as the table above, just doesn't look it because it's so shallow in comparison.

I've tried finding a well designed desk at this size, but the only ones I've seen run well over $700...and that just isn't worth it to me. At least not right now.

Now then, my next desk will be made by yours truly...and it may very will look very similar to the one you have drawn out. I think the 5 feet is probably enough for most, but keep in mind that corner is going to be awfully deep and a lot of space back there probably won't be utilized particularly heavily if you put the desk in a corner.

In any case, good luck in your search!

So how goes your search? Did you find anything that looks like it'll work for you?

well, i had ordered the bush fairview desk from officemax, but i have to wait another week. probably the last transaction i'll do with them.

a. they advertise free shipping on the site, but of course the fine print says you have to be in trade areas. but they don't exactly tell you what those areas are on the site, so you have to call them up and wait a good 10 or so minutes for them to tell you no, you won't get the free shipping, 35 bucks please.

b. they ship pretty slowly and don't give a tracking number, so i had no idea when i would need to be home to receive the desk. when i was at work and the desk did come, my bro got the door, but then saw there was a big hole in the side of the box, as well as a gouge in the wood. then i had to wait a while until they shipped the desk back to the warehouse so my card wouldn"t get charged. so basically i get to pay shipping for a product that comes 3 times later then when it is supposed to. thanks officemax.

btw, sorry for all lower, my eee pc is screwed to high hell and i have to hold the shift key down on an external usb keyboard so i can type with every letter without being in caps lock.

I just got this one. I have more than enough for my 24" monitor, two 17" monitors, my PC, 360, and laptop.
