Default Seeking Ideas for Computer Workstation

I just moved into a new townhouse and would like to build a nice workstation for my computer. Nothing too big, but a corner unit would be nice. I am thinking of using a sheet of 3/4 Birch or Cherry as the top. I can rip it to 2'x4' and 2'x2' and make a monitor perch and a sliding keyboard tray. And I am a little partial towards the Arts and Crafts style. Any other ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Sound like a good idea...

How does a wall mounted "boxes" unit on the wall(s) behind sound. You can place your speakers, CDs, framed pics etc in the boxes and use it as storage space?

Just a thought
