Default Antec 900 side fan intake/exhaust

I should be getting my 4th antec tri cool 120mm fan to put in the side vent slot. from what i have read it is supposed to be used as an intake but since i have some free time i will be doing some tests to see if using the fan as an intake or exhaust is better (for my setup or one like it). currently all my fans, two front intakes and top/rear exhaust are all on the medium setting.

because of the positioning of the psu on the bottom of the case, this puts the psu fan point straight up for me. i have not decided if that is a good or bad thing because it points straight up into my graphics card, which has its own fan pointing straight down (much smaller of course though). my theory is that an exhaust fan in the side will pull that hot air out where it is meeting between the two other fans. I will try each way both idle and load, cpu and video in all combinations to see which gets the best results and post them here.

my constant will be without the side fan (my current set up). for cpu load i will run orthos for 10 mins and record the highest temp reached. for video temp load i will run 3dmark06 and get the highest temp after testing.

constant (no side fan)
CPU idle: 25
CPU load: max 61, avg ~57
Video idle: 41
Video load: 60

side fan as exhaust on medium
CPU idle: 23
CPU load: max 58, avg ~53
Video idle: 41
Video load: 60

side fan as intake on medium
CPU idle: 23
CPU load: max 57, avg ~51
Video idle: 42
Video load: 63

Will be updated tonight and tomorrow night.

The power supply pulls air in. On that note, my future mods will include inverting the PS and modding the base so that the PS draws its own cool fresh air from out side the case
