hi all, im new to these forums, and id like to contribute and stuff, so im just here to ask the following...
has anybody ever thought, or tried creating an entirely new case out of that kind of metal mesh that they use in flyscreens? its pretty sturdy, VERY well vented, etc...if you dont know what it looks like, try to imagine this... its like a flat sheet of metal, with small holes drilled in it, and they have ben pushed out, all facing in one direction... like a kitchen use grater ![]() if u still dont understand description, ill try and find a pic somewhere... and btw, this is just out of curioosity, i probably wont try and do it...feel free to experiment... but like i said, fill me in if it has been trie or thought up sumwhere alon hte line.. cheers! ![]()

If you used some lightweight alunimum tubing to make a frame, it would probably work. Not a bad idea!

ah yes both good points, how thick would alluminium tubing be?
and back to the primary question, has it been hinted/done b4?

in terms of the strength, it depends... are you putting anything on top of the case, moving around a lot, or is just going to have your components inside. If it is is going to be stationary, i can't see you needed anything thicker than a 1/4" aluminum tube making an X along the sides of the case. you might also want to look into L brackets.

to ure first answer waffles, yea that (teh case window) would probably be a good option.also what was ment by an "l bracket". and where would that be in /out of the case? adn yea itd probably be stationary...not tat ill ever try it
that case "window" idea was pretty good, that would probably be the best option...... cheers PS, somebody done this b4?
