I just attached my two fans and there is better airflow, though i would recommend it because its F@%$^% noisy! If you want to get more airflow at a certain place of your case than do it, but still separately is quieter.

Hmmm i'll just give it a go when im bored =D

Thinking of attaching 2 80mm hiper quiet fans as they are only 15mm thin =D

If you stick 2 fans together... you would just create more pressure. more pressure = more noise.

i tried this a while back and it gave no noticable difference in airflow- completely pointless.

I'm really not seeing how 2 fans together possibly creates more airflow than one. Think about it. The 2 fans are both spinning at the same speeds therefore they will push air at the same speed. I don't really know how to explain. Hmmm. Ok if you turn the first fan on but the second one is off notice how the second fan will still be spinning at the same rate due to the air going through it pushing the blades and spinning the fan. Applying power to that second fan is only going to keep it spinning at that same rate so how is it possibly adding anymore airflow? Make sense? Probably not I'm awful at explaining things. Maybe someone gets me at least.

Putting a 2nd fan inline (in series) is a good idea when there is a large pressure drop across the system. Two fans in series will in theory be able to overcome twice the static pressure of one fan.

I have two on the intake of my P182 as the filter creates a fair amount of resistance.
However the fans need to be separated by 6" or so, otherwise the turbulence / angular component of the airflow off the first fan will cause the 2nd problems (blade stall etc, which in turns leads to lots of noise and loss of performance)

The P182 is good in this way as the fans mount either side of the top HD cage which is about the right distance apart.

its much much MUCH louder.

It's actually not a great idea from the technical standpoint. By having the two muffin fans double-stacked like that you're increasing the static pressure for the primary (back) fan while decreasing the static pressure for the secondary, booster fan.

One fan is going to be overamped to attempt to meet the load requirements and will be overheating and the other fan will likely be underamped and burning through the oil in the bearings much more rapidly.
