Hey Guys

So tonight I got a little bored and I was thinking about cooling my computer.

Here's the main unit I came up with:



From there, there would be flexible air ducting coming from the exhaust fan that lead to another box, filled with more silica gel packs as well as a temp gauge and humidity gauge. From that box it would lead to the main intake on my computer via more air ducting.

Comments and Criticism welcomed and greatly appreciated.

*note: there is already screening on the window, which is why its not in the diagram by the intake fans.*

Hmmmm....interesting idea dude. Are you actually thinking on building something like it?

Yeah, figured it might be a fun project. I have tons of plastic sheets, plexi glass, sheet metal, and wood. Figured might as well put some of it to use.

Just not sure yet how I want to power the fans and if I want to use digital or analog gauges...lol.

I'll definitely keep you guys in the loop. I'll probably make a mock up throughout the week. Test things out, see if it I really want to do it.

If everything checks out and seems feasible. I'll try and take pics and maybe do a DIY on it. We'll see how it goes.

i have a 4" RVK100 Lti extractor fan with ducting blowing fresh air across my board and it's making a very big difference

E6750 @ 3.8GHz -1.45v idling at 16/12 and 45/45 under prime

can't wait to get a better/bigger HSF on should make even more difference

Nice....good to hear. I just bought the ducting today. Slowly but surely it'll get done.

It's not like I am running really hot. The hottest I got my computer was 52C after several hours of Prime95 in a 70F room.

More or less I am just bored and want a project to do, aside from school crap.

So I made a generic mock up tonight...and I am getting excited to get going on this.

With this basic mock up, it's already dropped the temp 5C

I'm sure once I get more and better fans, that it's going to do wonders.

Right now my temps are:
36/36/31/32 for the CPU
40 for the GPU
34/34 for the hard drives (seperate compartment though, not really effected by this)
40/24 for the NB and SB (not sure which one is which)

haha nice. wow yeah you are going to be able to get that sucker real cold. Nice work man. Keep the pictures coming! Modding PCs is a great thing to do when you are sick of homework eh? hahaha yeah.....i know that one too. Keep us posted
