I have recently Submerged my computer into a fish tank full of mineral oil. it seems to run 40C to 53C. I have recently hooked up 1 1/2 inch clear tubing to a 300gph (gallons per hour) fish tank pump and ran the tubing through a mini fridge's freezer. Then sealed the tubing. The mineral oil seems to pump slowly, but i thought that would be good so it can chill the oil as it passes through the freezer. It still runs at the same temp even though it is pumping through.
__________________I was thinking of wrapping the clear tubing inside the fridge with copper wiring and then wrapping them with those gel freezer packs. I am almost thinking that the pump is too slow or something. Anyways i need suggestions. Should I get rid of the CPU fan? please help. oh yea there is one or two bubbles in the tubing. BTW sorry if this is a repost. It's my first day here. ![]()

This is not my main Pc. I will post my main pc's specs in the usercp. This comp is actually only an amd 1800+ with a nvidia 5600 256mb vid car. the fsb is 200mhz right now. I have not overclocked anything on it yet. i need to find a sufficient way of cooling the tank before i do so. I want to run below 25C steady.

If i can cool the oil sufficiently The overclocking possibilities are endless. I just need to know how to cool the mineral oil well and keep it cooled for long periods of time. The colder the better!

Puget ran their oil through a gigantic fanless radiator and it lowered temps significantly. My senior project for school involves mineral oil and cooling, but I'm not revealing my plans yet hee hee hee...

There used to be a thread here about this cooling method.

A guy from TeamATI had a submerged rig at a LAN I went to last year. He had a couple of TEC's in the loop with a 360 rad(if I remember right) and claimed that he saw a significant drop in temp. Sorry, I don't have more details, he wasn't the most pleasant guy to talk to and I had gaming to do! Good luck.
EDIT: Not the best pic, but here..... Submerged
