I have 5 fans in my new rig, and there all exhusting there doing ok but ive noticed alot of people doing intake and exhaust the way i set it up makes since but i think i need some fresh air, looking to get the best out of my money as always.
I have a 120mm Sucking out of the back one pushing through my heatsink and out the back my PSU sucks from the side of my cpu cooler and out the back one on the top that sucks out the top and one on my case window to suck off the 1st GPU and a pci slot fan to suck off the bottom GPU's heatsink Here is a bad diagram but i think you can tell whats up Red arrow is airflow and yellow lines are where the fan is located. Any help is encouraged! ![]() Thanks, James |

Might be worth getting a low lying fan in the front of the case and having that as an intake.. Or if that's not an option, maybe change your side panel fan to intake.. That way you'd be blowing cool air directly into the CPU fan and onto the RAM.. However this might disrupt airflow IF you choose to mount an intake fan somewhere up front...
At the moment, it looks like all your fans are extracting.. This will be pulling air in through all the spaces and gaps in your case.. General consensus is - In: Front / Low ... Out: Rear / High. P.s.: "one on my case window to suck off the 1st GPU" ... titter..

you should try to balance intake and exhaust. it is ok if intake is just a little higher than exhaust if you use filters on your intake fans because it helps to maintain positive pressure, which will keep dust out a bit

You want to have more intake than exhaust as mentioned above.

You need a fan in the front of the case.

I have the option of 2 in the front but no 4 pin AUX connectors left
can you buy splitters if youv'e got the power to run more? Or should i move the fan from the top to the front? It's Hard to tell with the side down but the side pannel fan lines up with the top 8600 pretty well Last edited by Silent8600gtx2 : 02-10-08 at 01:00 PM. |

Turn the fan on the case door around so It's blowing in. I will help you towards your goal of in/out balance and will cool your GPU(s) better.

Also, if you're buying your fans from Newegg, they tell you whether or not it's a 3 pin, a 3 pin with an adapter to a 4 pin molex connector, or is just a 4 pin molex connector. So just be sure to buy one that says 3/4 pin or 4 pin because there's no more plugs on your motherboard.
