Default Wow, AS5 fails for me

When building my computer, I decided to order a syringe of Shin-Etsu. When I received it, I tried to apply it. (i hate the way it sticks compared o AS5) But in the end, I got the right amounts, and good spreading. (every time I tried to reorganize my case, I checked to make sure it spread properly) I idled in the 27-30C range. So, Then I decided to try AS5 again (the little dot method, and a SLIGHT amount of the HS for good contact, not even enough to feel if you ran your finger over) I started idling in the 33-36C range. I thought, wow, AS5 completely failed. I'm going back to my Shin-Etsu. Just thought i might share my experience with you guys. And by the way, my ambients stay about the same all day (i keep my door closed, heater vent off, and I even open my windows to cool things down. Stays nice and chilly inside of my room compared to the rest of the house)

Oh, and by the way, this was all at stock clocks and voltages

EDIT: The AS5 has cured, it was applied friday, ran most of yesterday, and all night saturday night

I thought AS5 had to "cure" due to the conductivity of the silver flakes it has in it.

hmm, it's still decent, alot better than some other thermal pastes out there. I tested gigabyte thermal paste and i got 40-42c idle also used Spire fanner 700 thermal paste and got 35-37c and then I finally switched to AS5 and got 30-32c idle.

Shin dropped my temps by about 3c on idle and 2c on load from AS5. Same ambient. AS5 was fully cured. So yeah, the 3 times I have gone from AS5 to Shin etsu my temps ALWAYS dropped a little. (I have tons of AS5 but always run out of Shin )

Never had a problem with AS5 and never had it fail.
I've heard good things about Shin-Etsu but haven't had the occasion to try it (yet).

Cure time is like 200 hours for AS5.
But still is only a 2-3° difference at most.

Quote:
Important Reminder:
Due to the unique shape and sizes of the particles in Arctic Silver 5's conductive matrix, it will take a up to 200 hours and several thermal cycles to achieve maximum particle to particle thermal conduction and for the heatsink to CPU interface to reach maximum conductivity. (This period will be longer in a system without a fan on the heatsink or with a low speed fan on the heatsink.) On systems measuring actual internal core temperatures via the CPU's internal diode, the measured temperature will often drop 2C to 5C over this "break-in" period. This break-in will occur during the normal use of the computer as long as the computer is turned off from time to time and the interface is allowed to cool to room temperature. Once the break-in is complete, the computer can be left on if desired.

yeah, but I suck at the line method, and then checking the spread of the as5, it covered both cores so it worked out. But still, i did the dot with shin-estu, and about a 5C temp decrease
