So one of my dad's friends offered me a free old computer. What better situation to try and see what kind of weird crap I can do to it... I basically am looking for any ridiculous ideas that don't take a lot of money... My current plan is to do another oil cooling project but pump it through a car radiator... One of my computer buddies is also one of those "car guys"... I know he's going to be playing with this with me, he suggested the car radiator... The glorious thing about this project is that I plan on experimenting with this computer until it is complete destroyed...
I'm going to record the temperatures on stock cooling, with a Cooler Master GeminII (I have one sitting around) and the with the oil... If the computer is too old (not 775) then I'll probably salvage whatever parts I can from it and try to use school funding to build the rest of it (I work in IT at a few High Schools)... I know there's at least 1 kid out there who could get credit from this... If you can get credit for making the board game "Mexicanopoly" you can get credit for blowing up a computer... Man, competency based schools rock. I'm going to start contacting kids who might be interested in doing this experiment after school... We'll probably start a blog (best way to document school projects EVER)... Once the wheels start turning I'll post a link to what we're doing... I'll also keep you guys in the loop on our brainstorming... Any neat ideas?...

How big is the car rad? Wont you need some monster pump(s)? And I don't think oil would be the best idea.. Maybe try some extreme cooling, rather than LN2 or dry ice look to something else.
But yeah start a blog, and keep a thread going on here showing how things are progressing. Good luck

So it looks like the newest computer I have access to is an old P4 (non-LGA775)... I think we're going to go ahead and try to oil cool it anyway, then if we get a nice system repeat it on a LGA775 system for temperature comparisons with standard air cooling... We probably will never compare it to liquid because generally the difference between air and liquid is relatively known and frankly it's expensive...
I'll keep you posted!

Radiator? Use the car's A/C compressor as a subambient system, and do a full closed A/C loop over a Tuniq Tower to avoid condensation. That much air blowing at 0 C or so should give you some nice temps.
What sort of motherboard is going to be involved? If it's an intel you'll want to check out the hardware mods available to OC it.
