I suppose its not really that big an experiment, but I just went into my garage to get a drink and realised that it's freezing in there, id say its about 3 degrees C in there, how much of a temp change do you think i'd get if I put my pc in there? It would suck in a hell of a lot of dust though

I think it would work pretty good as long as you get some CRAZY fan filters

if your garage is really as dusty as you say, then it would not be a good idea.
__________________at first you will notice that your temps will drop, but the dust will soon clog up your heatsink - and when this happens the heatsink will lose its efficency. you will have to clean your heatsink very often too

Yeah i know, my garage isnt that dusty, but its by far the dustiest (is that a word?) place in the house, I wouldnt leave it in the garage anyway because that would be silly, it was just an idea really

Anyway, many garages are not insulated or heated so it is possible that there is little temperature difference between outside and inside. Assuming it is still cold enough to snow outside, I can see how you can take advantage of the temps. Eventually, when the weather warms up, the garage may become a "hot-box"

dust shouldn't be too much of a problem, just requires cleaning.
the only problem I see is that hard drives don't function well in near freezing temperatures. So if you can find a way to insulate your hard drive, then you'll be good to go!

my PC is in the garage. In fact, i basically live in the garage :P
As for the dust part, it's not too much to worry about. It gets a lot better after u settle in and clean a few times.

I have just put my computer in the garage and it runs alot cooler. As for the dust, I religiously clean all of my cooling fins and fans every 2 months to keep the skills up. I think it is a good idea to have it in the garage as not too many annoyances in there.
