Smile Anti-Vibration Fan Stand [56K]

I built an extremely inexpensive anti-vibration fan stand for my random akasa case fan, heres how it goes...

Standard fan that i got, £3.51 from OCUK with me 8800GT

The equipment needed for this guide
--> Fan
--> 2 Squishy Grommets
--> 2 lollypop sticks

Squish the first grommet into the corner of the fan leaving a bit at the top, remember to do it on the side that is going to be sittin on the bottom

Once you've got both in, make sure they both stick out the same amount

Bit of 007 action going on here...

Thread the first lollypop stick through the two grommets, mine stayed in without the need of superglue - but it might help if yours are loose/you dont have the deep grooves as most 80/120mm fans have

Pop the other lollypop stick under the one we just put it, it should be nice and snug - if its not you can either superglue it, or push down on both grommets to snug it up

Tada, completed - takes about 2 minutes and is quite fun, the tail of the lollypop stick may vibrate, but it doesnt for me - however, if it does all you need is an extra grommet

Cut a small semicircle from the extra grommet, well - more of a shaving

Stick the little semicircle/shavin with the flat side being glued against then lollypop stick

Tada! You may need to weigh down the tail of the stick, as the fan may rock forward - Or you can push the tail forward and stick a grommet to the front also, so you have a cross [+] with grommets on each end

A lil' picture of the finished product

Hope this is helpful to anyone who has annoying vibrations =)

The squishy grommets can also be applied to the bottom of your powersupply, hard drive and the bottom of pumps [One in each corner]

^.^

Thanks for readin

That is a cool little idea.

Will it work upside down? Hanging from the stick, if you will..?

Yeah it came a little loose after i booted my system down a flight of stairs, but it held in place =P

Mines pretty sturdy, since the tail is wedged under the HDD Cage
