As some of us know the E1xxx/E2xxx/E4xxx and some other CPUs have thermal paste between the die and IHS and is the cause of high temps. I have removed my IHS on my E4500, check the IHS removal thread in my sig for pics. What I am wondering is as all soldered CPUs seem to have a metal like die and non soldered CPUs have a non metal type die, can I solder the IHS to the die with such a CPU without melting the die? Would the solder even stick to the die as its not metal?

its best simply to modify the mounting bracket and apply your cooler directly to the die, applying even tensile strength as you tighten it, moving from corner to opposite corner, as not to damage the die.

A) you've already voided the warranty by removing the IHS
B) solder will only hurt the die (IMHO)
C) the temps of direct die cooling are better
D) better temps can mean more OC

yea definitly run it naked, but you will have to mod the mounting bracket, youll get much lower temps and the temp difference between the 2 cores should be much lower now.

You could get some collabratory liquid metal pro on there. That stuff is like solder, but I have no idea how it reacts with the processor material.
