maybe if you learn to read you can CLEARLY see that it was put that way for a reason here i will quote myself

Quote:
HAHAHA ok guys i used exterior car trip double sidded tape for the bottom fan. and the reason i have it screwed to the stock mout is to make like an air duct and i have it reversed to keep the hot air off my GPU. and the litte fan on the botton is MM away from my 8800 lol. and its used to help force some extra air into it. my temps before were around 75C but after this little mod im down to 55c and it took that crazy heat off my GPU. and the reason i cant do my mod like marins is one becouse i want my airflow reversed and 2 my CPU cooler is so damn huge it wouldnt clear and i cannot mount it any other way lol.

If you can come up with a design and draw up measurements for it i can get it built. Brother is a machinist for a ship building company and a master welder to boot. WOuldnt have any problem machining a heat sink and has access to the material/tools

it needs to be Cu 110 grade or better

and sheets might not cut it, seeing as you want a good amount of weight in the base to keep the heat from swinging wildly. probably .5-1 inch thick base and the heatpipes are going to be hard to construct.... Fins are easy to make, just thin sheets of copper with holes on each side, punch the holes so that it leaves a 'spacer' for the fin above it or just use regular washer/spacer stacks. simple

I think he would need to do some research on how to properly construct heatpipes - they have some kind of special gas in them...

what about just designing a heatsink + fan to sit specifically on the northbridge? Doesn't necessarily have to use a heat-pipe to be effctive does it? what about a smaller version of this:

Build a mounting bracket for it to mount a 60mm fan and point it towards the back of the case

With the 780i, it really should have a heatpipe.
