XFreeRollerX, how are you going to mount this on a mobo tray? I don't think spacers are big enough... Cut a whole in MoBo tray?

Looks good!

This is true! I must have forgone this detail in my wishful thinking

I will tell you though, it really did reduce how much flex I had

Well seeing as my motherboard tray has large hollow spots and only beams to support standoffs, there is plenty room for me... I did not think about that issue but some may have to cut a hole

Cut up a rubber mouse pad and use that as a spacer, you might have to stack it, i don't know how large a gap you have...I usually use neoprene since i have scraps of that most of the time...

I do mine a little different, I have a HDPE piece that goes on the back of my mobo tray, then I use a back-plate between tray and mobo with neoprene between back-plate and mobo tray...That way all the pressure is on the back of my tray, the neoprene keeps the mobo from flexing much....Next time I'll ream out my back-plate legs so it will slide up and down on the studs, its just there to insulate my studs from the mobo anyway...Its a pain screwing my studs into the right length to fit right...

In the first pic the back-plate legs aren't up through the mobo yet, I pull them through and use nylon washers to insulate it from the mobo, then nuts and washers on top of those...

RMA your mobo. Somethings not right.

jk, funny way to insulate, though.

For the mobo-backplate material, mouse pads are nie, and they can be had for 2$ locally at some places. If not, maybe cardoard, cloth, or even a sock.

I don't think a sock would be a good choice.

well while you were at the local hardware store you should have looked for a cheap rubber mat to cut out a section to place between the board and the new backing plate.

I like the mousepad Idea

I might do it next time I clean out the WC loop... right now things are working fine and mobo isn't stressed at all although this rubber backplate will make the stress absolute zero.

I dont want to tinker much more right now because tinkering costs money... even if it is this lil backplate mod remount...thats more CPU paste I need to buy!
